2010 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program Professional development in the United States
Call for Applications
The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the 2010 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program. This one-year, full-scholarship program is offered to mid-career professionals working at the policy level who have a record of leadership, a commitment to public service, and the initiative to take advantage of a self-defined program of independent study at a leading university in the United States.
The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program brings accomplished professionals from developing countries to the United States at a midpoint in their careers for a one-year program of non-degree study and related professional experiences. The program seeks to foster intellectual exchange, mutual understanding and lasting ties between U.S. and Malawian professional counterparts. Successful applicants will be placed at participating universities in the United States for the 2010 academic year.
Eligibility Requirements
Five years of substantial professional experience and a record of superior performanceAt least a Bachelors degree, Masters or PhD preferred
Demonstrated leadership qualities, a record of public service and the ability to achieve positions of significant responsibility
Fluency in English (the TOEFL test will be administered)
Applicants must have lived and worked in Malawi for the past 5 years

Application/Selection Process
Eligible applicants may obtain a Preliminary Application Form at the Public Affairs Section of the United States Embassy, Information Resource Center or download an application form. After a local selection, final nominations are reviewed in the United States by the William J. Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Awards are announced by March 2009 for the Fellowships beginning in August/September 2009.
