Millennium Challenge Corporation Releases Malawi Policy Performance Scorecard
Lilongwe, Malawi - Today, the U.S. Government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) released the Fiscal Year 2010 policy performance scores for 86 countries, including Malawi. MCC scorecards, which are released annually, set forth countries’ scores on 17 independent policy indicators in three categories—Ruling Justly, Investing in People, and Economic Freedom. Success in these areas is critical in determining whether a country is eligible for a large-scale MCC grant, known as a compact. MCC considers whether a country performs above the median in its income peer group on at least half of the indicators in each of the three policy categories and above the median on the control of on indicator.
