Malomo Water Project

Project Description:
The Ambassador’s Self Help Fund grant of $3,500 was used to pay for the drilling of one artesian well and installation of a hand pump. The Malomo community—especially children—suffered from frequent outbreaks of diarrhea and other water-borne diseases.   Due to the frequent congestion at a distant well, people started queuing up to fetch water as early as 4AM.  The provision of potable water all-year round has brought immediate relief to the Malomo students and village communities of about 1,000 inhabitants in Ntchisi District in Malawi's Central Region.
