US Embassy hosts an American Roots Workshop

The U.S. Embassy’s Tim Novak on December 15, led the American Roots Workshop and presented various types of American grassroots music, touching specifically on the genres of bluegrass, blues and jazz.

Tim discussed the development of these art forms along with their international foundations with members of the Music Association of Malawi who attended the workshop. Various traditional instruments were on display and participants enjoyed several musical samples.

Tim and the Malawian musicians later held a hopping jam session, trading off between American tunes and musical styles from various parts of Malawi.
