Non-Immigrant Visa
Standard Requirements
Non immigrant visa hours are Monday and Wednesday at 8:00 to 11:30 am and no appointment is required.
What is needed for the non immigrant visa application - Standard Required Documentation:
- A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond the applicant's intended period of stay in the United States. If more than one person is included in the passport, each person desiring a visa must make an application;
- Application form filled out completely and signed. Blank forms are available without charge.
- Males between the ages of 16 and 45 must submit form DS-157.
- Two 2" X 2" photos with white background and no headcovering.
- $100 fee (per applicant, payable in U.S. Dollars or Malawi Kwachas). This fee covers application and processing costs. Reciprocal visa fees may apply for nationals of some countries.
- For student visas proof that SEVIS fees have been paid is required. For more information go to www.ice.gov/sevis
The Embassy accepts non-immigrant visa applications for all Malawian citizens and all non-Malawian residents, living or working in Malawi. We encourage non-Malawians not residing or working in Malawi to apply in their country of residence.
Non immigrant visas are generally processed the same day. However, many additional factors. such as the need for special clearances, incomplete applications, and fraud investigations may influence the processing of individual visa cases. Timing will vary based on the individual circumstances of each case.
Visas should be picked up at the Embassy by the applicant.
